About Me! I wanted to use this space to let you know a little bit more about me! I am a 2004 graduate of Penn High School, where I was heavily involved in the choir department, musicals, plays, student council, and National Honor Society. Upon receiving the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship as a senior, I attended the Indiana University Bloomington Jacobs School of Music and received my Bachelors of Science in Vocal Performance and Theater and Drama, graduating in 2008 with highest distinction. After working at various regional theaters and performing in such musicals as The King and I, Anything Goes, Fame, and Pump Boys and Dinettes, I decided to return to school to receive my license to teach music. I completed my Transition to Teaching program at Bethel College in 2010 and was awarded my K-12th Grade Choral and General Music teaching license from the state of Indiana. I taught from 2010-2012 at Concord West Side Elementary School in Elkhart and joined the staff at Northpoint in the fall of 2012. I currently teach at Madison Elementary. I completed my Masters of Music Education from Anderson University in May 2014, where my literature review research study has focused on the acquisition of sight singing and pitch matching skills in the elementary grades. Through my masters program, I have been certified in Orff Schulwerk levels 1 and 2, Dalcroze Eurythmics level 1, Conversational Solfege, and using technology with integrity in the general music classroom. I married my husband, Seth, on August 2, 2014, and we have two children, Scarlett and Liam. |
